i am a second year doctoral student in the Gender, Women, & Sexuality Department at the University of Washington, Seattle. My research focus is on graffiti artists and art in Cairo during the Arab Spring. i argue that graffiti presents alternative, ephemeral, classed, and gendered narratives of the revolution that are important to unpack and study in order to better understand this historic moment. Some of my interests include understanding and documenting the role of art and artists in inciting conversation and action of social change and political movements, transnational feminist theory, Arab feminism.

i have a Master’s degree from Rhode Island School of Design in Informal Community Art Education and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Policy and Behavior from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

i am a founding member of the Seattle Globalist, where i spend sometime as the Community Outreach and Events Coordinator.
